So I find this particular issue to be very frustrating. Call me a newb but is it really worth the trouble of fully relicing a toon? Sure mods make all the difference because by the end of the day everyone who has an ot chewie at gear 13 and relic 7 fully Zeta'd will have a toon with identical stats. But when it comes to certain areas of the game namely any event that doesnt involve player vs player, one would think that having a team of powerful toons at relic 7 would almost ensure victory due to the sheer amount of power each individual toon has as well as the best synergy to really unleash a squads full potential. Sure mods are essential for additional speed and stats like potency and tenacity, it just seems off that a fully developed team cant be nearly guaranteed victory. A good example of this is the level of difficulty with the Darth sidious phase of the dark side assault battle. I've recently got all but 2 of my nightsisters up to gear 13 and between relic 2 and 4 with the final 2 being gear 12. All Zetas are filled, best suited mods are equipped to the necessary toons and though I have yet to try the sidious phase on the second to last tier (the one that rewards zeta and gear 12 finishers) I've heard that he is absolutely near impossible to hit since he opens with an aoe attack that instantly obliterates the team regardless. So is it really worth the wasted resources to reach relic 7 if it means nothing?

I would rather have 30%-50% more toons at r5. Those last 2 steps are worth something, but you can get another toon a large hunk of the way from g12+0 to g13 with the gear and other effort you use up taking a toon from r5 to r7. So is what those two steps are worth really enough that you'd rather have 2x r7 instead of 3x r5? It makes even less sense (at least to me) when you talk about entire teams worth of relic 7. With different requirements for different combat missions and a need for a mix of LS and DS toons in Geo TBs, plus your Arena squad, which might be different as well, and then there's GAC... ... I think that while it might be worth it to take your Arena squad to 5x r7, depending on your shard and your expectations for success, having 3 more r5 squads is going to be more valuable than 2 more r7 squads. I have a number of r7 toons as well, but I limit that to situational toons that are already exceptional, GL requirements, and the occasional requirement for Fleet (since you can't mod to get higher speed). Other people may differ, I'd simply rather have a wider variety of squads that are competent to play in the various different game modes than have a couple squads that dominate when they qualify, but leave me unable to compete in other game modes when my few r7 squads aren't eligible.

it really depends. some toons really shine at r7, like gas, others just "need" r3 or r5. SO, for ex, if you have gas r7 and fives r7 the rest can be r2-r4 and you shouldn't really ever lose on offense vs gas, even full r7 Gas teams

Relics are supposed to be a truly end game thing. You might just not be end game enough.I have one at r7 right now, Jedi Rey, and am working on Scavenger Rey, then BB-8 for Rey. But I generally stop at R4 because I don't have a steady stream of relic mats above that level and still have use for the gear that creates them.It's kind of like the Shard Shop. At first it seems like a waste of a space because you have so many characters you need to farm. But eventually you have everyone at 7* and it becomes a gold mine because you simply don't need shards any more. Same with relics. Right now you're mortaging your future for a short term gain in the present if you're focusing on r7. Get teams to r4, use them to get faster and more reliable access to advanced mats through Assault Battles. Or simoly focus on finishing g12 for all your characters, then you don't need g12 gear any more and can dump it into heat sinks or whatever en mass.

Your meta arena fleet commanders should be r7, key pilots (eg JKA) should be r7, key arena toons should be r7. The rest can stay at r3-5. Of course some stuff like the rest of the 501st clones can be r7 cause they have multiple purposes e.g. KAM SM, rex has a ship, 5s has a ship, arena, GAC, LSTB CMs. The idea is just find those toons that will give u the most returns and those are the targets for higher relics.And to re-emphasize, meta fleet comms and key pilots generally need to be r7 to keep up with fleet arena cause there are no mods. In squad arena or GAC etc, ur r5 GAS can still beat a r7 GAS if modded and played well.

I don't find the zimbiddle card a big deal. I always have something lying around that could get me a zimbiddle.

But the full-g12 piece required at both r6 and r7 seems more harsh to me. If I take something to r6, I've already decided to take it to r7. (although it's true that I currently have a couple r6 toons b/c I stopped adding the relic levels before I was done so that I could chase Rey. But still, I've already decided I *will* take them to r7. Just haven't gotten there yet.)

As for ships mal and bugs def don't need r7, esp bugs. The problem with going to full r7 arena teams is that resources are scarce and it will also pit you against better/more dangerous overall opponents in gac.

Everything in this game is resource management, so a top heavy roster can hurt you, and a super balanced roster can hurt too lol. glgl

Agree. myself and a few others in my fleet shard run Malevolence and can all take top spot without any relics other than GG. Two most important ships are crewless anyway. Sun Fac is pretty damn tanky even at G12.

The vast majority of characters do just fine at lower relics, or even just flat g13. Guys like Hoda and C3P0's gear is largely irrelevant even, as long as they have enough health to survive. Relic 7 is for:

- Characters that are either meta or get a disproportionately large benefit from high relics (General Grievous, GAS, SLKR/Rey)
- Key characters on your arena team (GK, Sith Trooper)
- That one character you just really really like

A better question to ask would be "Are relics necessary for this character to do what I need them to do?"

Also I do have several toons at relic 7, fully Zeta'd and currently equipped mods all sliced to 6 dot so i have had the "privilege" of fully developing a toon just to be largely disappointed with the end result (looking at you gm yoda)
