Up your Phoenix Team G9 and seven stars all. Maybe not Sabine, because it's a long farm. She is useful but more in raid. You can go through Thrawn without her.
With this team you will have Thrawn (hard event) and Palpatine 7* (easy event). Two empire toon. With Darth Vader it makes three.
My advice is to farm TIE Fighter Pilot after Ezra and Hera for the fourth empire toon.
And after Kanan farm Tarkin 7*.
At the end you will have TFP/DV/EP/Thrawn/Tarkin. For gear, it's difficult to say the minimum for R2D2. But a mix of gear IX and X will be good.
Maybe you need to use Omega on your toon to get Thrawn and R2D2. After R2D2, yuo can get CLS and an other story of farm begins ;)
