Phoenix Squad help

Ezra is probably the best toon out of the Pheonix Squad, I've only just started to gear them but Ezra is a must have toon, he also fits in with other rebel teams and jedi teams too.

There is big consensus that the two you can leave out are Chopper or Sabine, depending if you need more survability or damage.
Ezra is the only i see in arena squad, and definitely a very good toon.
Having Zeb or Kanaan beyond gear 8 is really a pain because of the two stun gun requirements.

I use a Phoenix Squad at 7*, G8.X and left Sabine out. They take me through GW all by themself with occasionally some canon fodder squad on 12 before clearing them with Phoenix. They are really good and definately above their league. Though they are getting weaker in Arena, i could easily destroy Squads with more Power than me up until Level 70. Still am on 11 and the main reason not being higher is stronger (or evenly strong) Phoenix Squads, because Phoenix vs. Phoenix is a pain, almost always draw. Same against Ewok Squad. Lacking the Damage i guess cause Ezra is the only real hard hitter.

So yes, get Ezra and push him, in fact he is the most qualified to push above G8 i think.

Ezra is a monster. Definitely gear him and you can easily slot him into a Jedi team since he's one of the best Jedi available.

Would you recommend getting rid of chopper then and putting in Ezra? I like sabine, she does decent damage and her unique comes in handy giving everyone 25% crit damage

For me, Choppers unique which everyone gets because of Hera is vital. Also, a second dispel is quite nice to use Ezras special more often because CD gets -1 if there are no buffs to dispel. But Sabine might work too with extra Damage to kill faster, i haven't used her much.
