Returning to game

I haven't played since around the time mods were new, but I suddenly got an urge to come back- Would my old account be salvageable, or has so much happened since then that I'd be better off starting fresh?

Regardless of the answer, pointers on how to get back into it effectively would be much appreciated. Thanks!
  • It's worth going into events and doing the fleet events. Then seeing what type of shard you are assigned to.

If you are in a new fleet shard you can probably sail to the top of the ranks easily enough. I'm not sure how it works for old players returning from before fleets existed. Your maxed Poe and Jedi Consular would dominate a new shard if you are put in one.

You have a few characters towards most of the event characters ready so it's a lot shorter journey than it could be. You also have 22 7 star characters so you should be able to find a guild doing both heroic raids so you can start earning raid han and general Kenobi.

I'd start with a full push on phoenix squad (who are rebels) for the Palpatine and Thrawn events.

Then start farming empire characters you already have royal guard for the r2 event. Palpatine and thrawn are free from other events so you only need two more. Tfp and tarkin are good in fleet so you may want to farm them anyway.

The new hope rebels comes next old Ben is unlocked and Han and Leia are already maxed so it's just Ben and farm boy Luke.

Then you need 5 first order for bb8, you already have 3 at 7 star so just two more including fotp who you might want in fleet anyway.

Then you will need finn, veteran Han and veteran Chewie for Jedi training Rey. You already have scavenger Rey maxed and bb8 is another event you are almost ready for.

So in conclusion if you go to events do the prequisites for fleet and see where you are in a fleet shard. If you can dominate with your level and a few maxed characters well you have a head start and can work on all the events. Otherwise go and start fresh.
  • There's a website called swgoh.gg if you set up an account there we can see your characters there and it might give us an idea to be able to answer your question.

If you happen to have a level 75 account with the characters you need for cls and r2d2 at 7 star and a start on some of the characters for bb8 and jtr our answers will probably be different than if you have a Sith team with maul savage Vader Sidious and dooku and not a lot else.

Either way you would do better in arena by starting afresh but if you have multiple teams that would be decent in tb and tw and you have characters that have good ships (even if only conincidentally) and you have event prequisites and a good team for raids well you might be better continuing on anyway.

The end game meta is essentially some combination of legendary and raid characters so if you follow the paths to get these guys it will help.

IE cls jtr bb8 r2d2 thrawn go and raid Han
  • I think, hearing that, I'd rather just start fresh.

Is there a resource for who to grind out early? My friends keep mentioning these phoenix fellows, and now you have as well?
  • How do I tell if I'm in a new fleet shard?

(As an aside, thank you guys for all the input)

Do the events to unlock a few ships then when you click fleet arena and look at the ranks see what levels the top 50 are.

If they are around level 60 you are in a shard with the people who just turned level 60.

The reason I'm telling you to do this is that I'm not sure if you are assigned a shard when you hit level 60 or when you complete the prequisite events for fleet.

Darth, the thing is this: since we're not Devs, Naraic is basically saying we don't know if your Fleet shard was set when you started the game or if it is set when you unlock Fleet activities. However, I would say that it's not worth it to find out.

Entirely up to the op but isn't it just five or six fleet training events where you get a whack of character and ship shards to unlock fleet activities. These unlock at a certain level and are always under events.
  • I would lean towards just sticking through it. You have really good blocks in place. I played til level 68 then didn't play for close to a year, came back and there were ships, mods, maybe even protection and more. I came back in Feb last year to a DEC15 shard. My best geared was 7, I only had droids and geonosians, and until I got Thrawn couldn't beat a Nihilus lead team. It's not as bad as people will say. I have played extensively since then and now I'm around the 200's in both arenas and still climbing. I guess really I'm just saying you're in a better place than I was, I think it could be worth sticking through it. At least you're not trying to farm STHan & Leia at the same time out of the same store.
  • Have shards been combined or anything? In theory, I should be on one of the oldest ones- maybe not that many active players?

Not having played for about a year dropped me to around 2000- Feels like I should be lower.

No combinations which is another positive thing in your favour,
