I think the only reasonable thing for them to do with ally points, if they ever do something other than what they're doing now, would be to:
1) Stop them entirely and when you consume ally points down to less than a bronzium card, the bronzium cards and ally points goes away.
2) Do a mass consume for anyone that has any bronzium points, awarding your the typical bronzium rewards, before changing their purpose. That is, get everyone back down to a base of 0 before accumulating them from some grander scheme so as not to severely hinder those that have already consumed them because they left them without a real need.
Personally, I wouldn't mind them not doing anything with them. I like the random free shard shop points from bronziums. Got 25 OG Ahsoka shards today. Only thing I dislike is the red badge they place on the data cards 5 times a day and having to scroll past all of the pay cards in order to get to the bronziums, but I think they did that on purpose to try to entice you to spend, so I get it.
