There is no strict definition.
The character class will change the primary stats, and have an effect on mastery archetype.
Generally speaking a support toon will have a focus on buffs/debuffs, healing or some regen, or other none combat characteristics. They will not have high damage output, or a tonne of health/protection themselves.
