I can say that ST was well worth the gear grind and now I'm buying shards from shipments for him and already have him to 6-stars, very worthwhile. He can take a ton of damage and the fact that he also gets DM's evasion bonus is pretty huge. Depending on your comp, I think ST is better than GK.
