Maul is terrible if he isn't lead unless you are facing all Jedi like in Places of Power. If you want an AoE daze you're better off with Wampa or Nest.
I didn't find SiT to be that great under EP either. I don't know why you would consider dropping Sion, especially if you are using DN. If anything you'd run both, not substitute SiT for Sion.
Guy in my shard was running a Zaul lead with the STR and SithAss. Was very effective. Then again I have yet to beat a Traya at all.
It works but he is still a distant 3rd best Sith leader.
