Vader Speed Discussion

I got lucky and pulled a +18 speed secondary from a 4 dot mod from the mod store last night. Moved another mod around and added 10 speed to my Vader so he is now 240 instead of 230. I was excited. Usually hover 30-70 range before.

I lost every single game today against Sion/Nihilus combo. Yes, I know how they work, and for a week or so tried to open with a basic on Nihilus against slower teams. I found that just using force crush anway usually worked out better. But now I am not sure. Should I drop 8 or so speed and put a potency cross on Vader, or just blame it on RNG?

So, what do you do against a slower Vader/Sion/Nihilus, how do you do it, and why? Discuss.

Im not stacking potency on him. It just so happens that a potency cross is my next fastest mod. ;)

Potency is useful on zFinn resistance. Also some characters have really low base potency and need at least a cross even in arena so they can land their main debuff. My g11 Holdo with 7% base potency come to mind.

Only resistance member worth stacking potency on is Poe. My g12 since day 1 Holdo has never had potency stacked on her, and I land enough debuffs with her just fine.

Seriously, the times when you stack potency on someone are very infrequent, doing so usually just means you hit for less without really landing more debuffs. The system is basically broken and best ignored unless it directly feeds into a mechanic. This statement isn't laziness, it's actually a true assessment of what is really effective in arena.
  • I was running the standard nightmare team in arena and had taken #1 once and generally stayed in top 10. Then Sion became farmable and I started dropping like a rock. Surprisingly enough I took Vader off my squad and subbed in a g11 5* Wampa and now I’m back where I was before. I feel Vader is great for raids but losing viability in arena. Just my two cents.
