I have tested several different setups dropping one of the AoE droids for either 86, B2 or RG and have seen no real improvement. I have also enjoyed success dropping JE for 86, running an all-droid squad, but I get hammered in defence.
I see a lot of droid squads with RG and they do very well against my team. I have now taken to dropping 88 for B2 when I face them so I can block RG's taunt.
Never seen STH with anyone but Old Ben. Certainly not with droids but there's no reason he wouldn't work. I've just found you need to act fast with droids yo get an early lead and STH is too slow to keep up once JE turns the ignition and the crits start firing.
St han gives tm when he taunta and when he gets hit ;) so if the ai attacks qgj and removes him first on defence it will be a nightmare
Btw i was thinking of a hk lead 88 86 j.e and poggle for the raids phase 2 or 3
