Why are my characters always being crushed?

I'm trying to advance in the AI battles so I can gain access to more battles and thus character shards, but my team is often slaughtered by the AI. And the confusing part? I send in my highest leveled characters, which range from the low 50's in level to 60 for my strongest unit, up against level 39 AI. My team is heavily damaged during the AI's first turn and my attacks barely do anything despite the level difference.

What might I be doing wrong?

Is Chewie really not that good? I see him in Galactic War and Arena all the time and he's tough to take down.

He is not a threat, so you may take him out last, either Ability Blocking, Stunning him, or dispelling his Taunt when he triggers it.
You see him so often because he's a character everyone starts with. You may use him at start, but as soon as possible you should shift your focus to another tank.

I don't even really use him as a tank. I use the Royal Guard and Kanun for that, because they have additional abilities like stun/slow for the guard and protections from Kanun. I just use Chewie as a big meat shield.

Well Sabine is hardest to farm becuase she is mostly out of the guild store but she is def one you'd want to get the others are all fairly easy to farm

Sabine shards can be found in the first hard mode DS stage.
  • Because they are Scoundrels for credit heist, rebels for Palpatine event, and generally regarded a solid mid level arena characters.
  • Yeah well farming her from a single node still makes her hard lol unless you're lucky. I mean i started farming her when they put her in guild shop and one 3 accounts I think two are half way to 7 star other one is close to being a 6 star. So I think based on being able to star the others up she may be left out for now. But as stated gear level and mods are more important than 7stars but she is an attacker so more stars means more viable in conjunction with gear and mods
  • I concur with the others; your gear levels are incredibly low. Pick a team to focus on and don't spread yourself thin.

Are you in a guild? That will help with gear.
  • mods and gear. be careful what mods you give them.

also give more info about your best characters and what gear/mods you already have.

If you'll look at my past posts, I have no mods as my units are butchered against the AI in those missions AND I gave a link to all my stats :p

You'll need around g5 or g6 before you start beating the AI on the Mod battles, but Mod battles are only a journey : the interesting mods are on the Mod challenges, but you need to finish levels from Mod battles to unlock the corresponding challenge.

Until you have unlocked tier 3 of mod challenges, you may upgrade the lower mods to improve your squads, but you might perhaps stop at lvl 12 of each mod (higher costs much more but won't bring you much on those lower star mods).
  • You have a good range of toons available but you need to pick two teams and focus on them for now.

Someone mentioned pheonix squadron befre for your light side team. Thats a good bet as they will allow you to unlock Thrawn and Palpatine when the events come around again, and have good synergy early in the game. From the six you can leave out chopper or Sabine. Sabine is more effective but is a much slower farm. You will need Hera as leader as her ability means pheonix share all their unique skills which is what makes them usable. Kanan is a workable tank, Ezra will have use at end game in a jedi squad, and Zeb can be useful in GW for protection recovery.

For dark side battles you have some good toons that unfortunatly wont be much use to you until end game. Sith trooper is a slow farm on a hard cantina battle that you probably wont be reaching for months. I'd be running DN lead, (he is one of a few toons stll viable at a low star rating later in the game), Vader (you'll get more shards from achievements), Savage, Dooku and Boba. With the shoretrooper another poster offered you as an ally, DN will survive long enough to do his job...annihilate the biggest threat. TFP,RG and phasma are also good options if you decide to go for one of them. The reason I mention Boba, is he can AoE, ignore taunts and revive as well as do huge dmg to oponents with lots of buffs and ,mainly, you need to be gearing and levelling him up for the credit heist event. It will be a huge source of income for you. Later, you'll be able to unlock Emperor palpatine with your pheonix squadron to be a 5th sith.

This should get you on your way to progressing through LS/DS/cantina and mod battles, and give you some options for arena and GW.

As an aside, if you do level these toons up, you'll also be able to use vader, boba, and pheonix squad for ships, as well as your tarkin. Just remeber as you approach lvl 80 you'll need 5 dark side ships starred up to farm zeta mats, so plan ahead for this as well.
