In general: Tarkin: good His zeta: bad.

Tarkin was basically made for Rex heavy shards. He makes empire fast enough to get the jump on Rex but there are faster comps out their that he will need to deal with once Rex comes back down to earth.

Would love to see him under a Gar Saxon lead. Other than that, hero seems too high a rank for him.

Great video as always @Smithie !I personally went ahead and put a Zeta on his unique.Reason being that he is quite squishy and in arena, there isn't time to build up is potency from his basic.Getting his defense up as quickly as possible is crucial which is why I have been running him with Zader. Once Vader gets off his Force Choke, it is guaranteed tankiness for Tarkin until Vader gets taken out.It isn't necessary no, but in arena, Empire needs all the help they can get.I don't have the right toons maxed to try running Tarkin as a leader yet but I would agree that his leader Zeta is more or less useless.

just got a 201k AOE hit and then another at just over 200k -- but both were with the door down (separate occasions); at no point so far have I been able to register any noteworthy damage with the door up or in P4.

That potency would drastically increase his damage when you unleash his special. I'm assuming that's what the commenter was talking about.

I think that the description of his basic can be interpreted in several ways - mathematically. With a couple of different methods I calculated that with 40% potency at the start of the encounter Tarkin could deal between 180% and 600% total damage using Ultimate Power if he built up potency over 5 turns. But there are still other ways to interpret the description of his basic all of which I did not take into consideration.

Edit: I do not think that 3000% is a realistic result.

I don't know what interpretation you're using but you can take a look at the Ability Mechanics, the Potency bonus is Additive, not multiplicative. 5 basic shots means he gets 250% Potency on top of his starting 40% gives 290%. 60 basic shots would give 60 x 50 = 3000% Potency. His Unique also gives Potency additively, hence why I said 3020%, without taking into account starting Potency values of course.

@Tifer

I only farmed Resistance to the point that I could 3* the speed challenge so I can't speak to Rey's Zeta.

I really enjoy Tarkin's Zeta unique and have used him in every area of the game since his rework.

I have taken 1st with Tarkin lead and I have also taken 1st with Zader lead plus Tarkin.

The only downside is those teams are rubbish on defense (especially Tarkin lead).

I hold better with Nihilus lead than I did with Zader or Tarkin.

It is nice to have and I don't regret it.

I wish I had Zidious (mine is 6* level 1 gear 1). I think he would add some great speed to the team and help gaurantee debuffs early in the match.

You can make him work if you really want to but he isn't OP and usif him successfully is a bit of a labor of love.

The Potency only stacks till you fire off Ultimate Firepower. If you did 60 basic shots then Ultimate Firepower, damage of UF would be multiplied 30 times. I believe this stacking does not carry over i.e. Does not stack across GW nodes or Raid Phases.
