@hotdonkeyman This is working as designed.

If the attack is evaded, no attempt to inflict armour shred will be made. "Attempt" in this case refers to the ability trying to apply Armour Shred, not the player's choice to use that ability.

Then it is poorly described. If you try that as a defense for getting away from an attempted murder charge in court “I shot but missed”, you will find your self in jail. It might be working as intended but not as described under the good old English dictionary
