Hi @pureblooded88 and thank you for the report.
There are several characters which require purple gear/equipment at lower gear levels without turning into purple. Purple gear level (the circle around a character) is generally activated at Tier 7, no matter what kind of gear pieces are equipped. I hope this helps.
