I had this same problem and had to cut off all music and sounds in the game (app) and was able to proceed through the journey. However, I believe it has something to do with the background because I faced one of my opponent in Grand Arena team with the same background and everything that happened in the GI stages when I had the sound on, occurred while battling in grand arena. The battle crashed and I took a lose against my opponent due to the crash.
