If you view a capital ship ability like a leader ability on a character then it's consistent - unless otherwise stated leadership abilities do persist after the leader dies.
Discussed earlier here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/Another-Executor-bug-destroyed-Executor-triggered-Vader-s-Bounty/m-p/10870654#M52894 though EA/CG didn't weigh in explicitly.
Yeah, this explanation is arbitrary at best, I'll go with a hard pass.
You definitely CAN look at it this way, but why would you do so in the first place, and more importantly, it doesnt matter what I (or you for that matter) think on the topic.
I would do so because the cap ship seems, to me, to fulfil the role of "leader" but, more importantly, what you've described is how it works for the only case I've seen an evidence for - I haven't seen any evidence of it working any other way for any other cap ship, so I would assume it to be correct rather than assuming it to be wrong.
You're correct though, it doesn't matter what anyone but CG think; however, whilst, as I said, EA didn't comment directly on the previous thread it was EA_UltraSlide that accepted this explanation that time.
Vader's bounty is a so called crew ability. It is neither leadership, nor unique. It is crew ability, a whole different type of ability. Any comparison with leader abilities or unique abilities for that regard is arbitrary and unfounded. The persistance points toward the leadership, the fact that almost every ship has crew abilities points toward the unique type.
The capital ships were never designed to be removed from the battlefield originally, and breaking this rule started to reveal things that are maybe not inconsistent, but illogical at best.
But probably they are not going to adress it, bc it is easier to say it is wai, without giving it an actual thought.
