Fake sale on HDB

Hi,

Not sure whether this is technically the correct place for this or not, but as you can see in the attached images you advertise the hyperdrive bundle to be “50% off!” On both the Webstore and In-Game store(Currency difference as the Webstore image is not mine) this is a deceptive business tactic that is Illegal in many countries. In the U.S.A. I believe the proper law is FTC Title 16 Chapter I Subchapter B §233.1 as seen in the following link

https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-16/chapter-I/subchapter-B/part-233/section-233.1

In the EU I don’t have official document numbers however this official article seems relevant

https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/consumers/unfair-treatment/unfair-pricing/index_en.htm

I will not report this to the relevant authorities for at least 30 days to save them the hassle.
Thanks for your time

  • Hi @LegoFan9WasTaken, and thank you for your report.

The Hyper Drive Bundle used to be sold for 99.99 USD, so it is a 50% offer (50% discount from its original price).

  • Let’s be honest—you guys clearly understand the psychology behind addiction. The timing of ads, button placement after updates, and the previous lack of transparency on odds are all part of your game design. You essentially run a gambling business with little to no oversight. Players give you real money, but you could take away their access anytime if you decided the server space was more valuable. Kids are often the target of these psychological tactics in your game.

One day, a big spender will sue you, and the settlement won’t be small. Hopefully, the FTC will get involved and enforce real changes in the freemium gaming industry. It’s appalling how much you exploit people’s enjoyment of the game to charge extreme prices for content. Unlocking a marquee character or going after a Galactic Legend in the first week costs hundreds or even thousands of dollars. You have over 250 characters—this is beyond ridiculous.
