google play connect- now cant start the game?!

Hi please help youre my only hope! 

Ive been playing solidly f2p (extremely time consuming) for about 6 months. Level 70.

This morning I  logged in & was asked to connect to Google play . I was very happy 

unconnected but agreed on basis i wouldnt want to lose this amount of progress.

Tonight i went into guild war was wbout to deploy & got message new client available.

This took me to Google play & it wants me to indtall the game.. Err.. its already installed.

So I  did nothing  now i try to start the game & its stuck on searching for updates

So I can't  start the game & gutted. Havent installed because it already is installed.

Can anyone advise me how to get back into the game as it was please?

Why oh why did i agree to google play- messy
