Long initial game loading times after Android 8.1 update

Question

I'm on a Pixel XL and recently upgraded to Android 8.1. Since then the game has taken anywhere from 5-10 mins to load. This only started happening since the update and happens on LTE and home WIFI. Anyone else having the same issue?

Google support said its games fault. Wouldnt even look at bug report

Any update can mess the things for an operating system. I should try to reset to default settings and install the game from Google store.
