Music from background apps no longer plays while in game after update

After the 7/31 update music from spotify/itunes/other sources doesn't play from my phone even with the in-game sound totally off. Please fix this I can't handle the silence. This is my happy time to ...

The tracker states the fix has been ready to deploy for a long time now. As others have pointed out, there’s been several updates released yet this fix hasn’t been included in any of them despite the “ready” status. Please release the fix asap as this issue is continuing to negatively impact gameplay for a lot of the community. Thank you.
