Saving your Game while Neighbours are on lot CRASHES The Sims 1

Hey.

I know a lot of users are reporting crashing and visual glitches. But I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread of Gameplay glitches experienced in-game that WERE NOT in the original versions.

To kick things off. In any neighbourhood when a Sim calls over to visit your sim (a neighbour) if you greet them and are talking to them, and try to save the game and return to main menu - the game crashes and exit outs. The family isn't corrupt, but nothing is saved.

I should mention for some odd reason this is SPECIFIC to Neighbourhood 8. This issue does not occur in Neighbourhood 1 or Neighbourhood 2.

EDIT: This issue appears in Neighbourhood 3. This bug doesn't occur in Neighbourhood 1 or 2, leading me to believe it's an issue from 3-8 onwards.

EDIT #2: This issue also occurs on a Save Game "userData" from the original release of The Sims Complete Collection.

  • I have this issue too. It took all day to even get the game to launch and now I keep losing my progress. Thanks for the tip about neighbors being on the lot though. I couldn't figure out why it sometimes worked fine and others didn't.

I am playing in Neighborhood 1 and it's my only save file so far.  It has happened to me twice. Both times a neighbor was on the lot.

Now that I think of it each time I've had a crash while saving I also had neighbors on the lot.  I'm gonna go see if saving when everyone leaves works.  Edited to say that I'm in neighborhood 1

  • You won't believe this. Apparently it's related to the Simlish voice acting. I tried it. I mute "VOX" aka Dialogue sound effects and in Neighbourhood 8 played with Claire charming. When Brad and Tiffany came over. If I greeted them and was chatting and tried to save it would crash. I muted the VOX and saved... It worked!

BUT this isn't a solution... Why? Well - when you reload a save The Sims 1 doesn't actually save your music settings so VOX is reset and not mute anymore, meaning the Claire Charming household is NOW "corrupted". If I try to load into that lot now it will crash and I can't fix it because I saved the family while Claire was talking to Brad Burb.

  • I can't go to some of the community lots in old town... I remembered there are mods still out there, but I can't find that magic mirror mod anywhere.

  • I have the same issue, been crashing every time I try to save whilst throwing a party. I play in neighborhood 1 as well, so I don't think it's linked to the neighborhoods.

i had the same issue, moved my save to the original sims 1 complete collection and it works fine there...

then i ended the party with my neighbors, moved the save back to the legacy edition and saving started to work correctly again.

    this game is a mess.
