Sims 1 Legacy Collection on steam deck create-a-sim glitch

I have been excited af to play the sims 1 on my steam deck, and the game gets to the default neighborhood screen just fine, but when I click on “create or select family”, the game crashes right back to the launch screen with no notifications or error messages- just abruptly brings me back to launch menu as if I closed the window. I haven’t been able to find much on this issue, has anyone else experienced it/know of a way to fix it?

Hey there, I had this same issue, but I finally worked out a fix. Try this—it worked for me!

The problem is that the game isn’t finding its UserData folder in the right place. You need to manually move it to the correct location. Here’s how to fix it:

    1. Go to your game’s install folder

    This should be in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Sims Legacy Collection

    2. Find the "UserData" folder

    Right-click it and select Copy

    3. Navigate to your Documents folder

    Go to:

    C:\Users\YourUsername\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 25

If The Sims 25 folder doesn’t exist, create it manually.

    4. Paste the "UserData" folder into The Sims 25

    5. Restart Steam and launch the game

If done correctly, the neighborhood should now load properly with houses, and you should be able to Create a Family without crashing.

    Hope this helps!

  • This issue should be resolved now.  For anyone still who is missing any neighborhood data (sims, lots, whatever), or whose game is crashing after the initial video but before loading into a household, you can try reseting your user data.  If you're not attached to your save, please go here:

    C:\Users\your username\Saved Games\Electronic Arts
    or for Steam OS:
     /home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/3314060/pfx/dosdevices/c:/users/steamuser/Saved Games/Electronic Arts/The Sims 25.

and remove or rename the "The Sims 25" folder.  This will reset all your in-game progress, and the files and subfolders should populate as normal now.

If you still see missing neighborhood data after a reset of the Sims 25 folder, please post in the thread linked below stating what is missing and what platform (EA App, Steam, Epic) you're using.
