Sims 1 Not working Still

I bought this game when it first came out, and for some reason, I have not been able to get it to work. Every time the game loads up, it shows up with empty lots, and I can't click the other locations because the game becomes stuck on the loading screen. When I click to add a family, the game crashes and turns off. I don't know what to do to get it to work, and I am disappointed because I cannot play the game, and it just came out. Is there going to be a patch for this? Uploading with a picture for a better visual of what's happening...
