The Sims™ Legacy Collection won't Launch - Crashes without error

Hello!

I recently updated my PC to have a RTX 5080 graphics card and AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D processor. It runs Windows 11 Pro.

After reinstalling The Sims™ Legacy Collection, it fails to launch. Crashing immediately, without any error messages. The icon just flashes in the task bar.

I have been looking through the forums and none of the suggestions have been able to help me resolve this issue. I have tried the following:

  • Have the latest version of the game installed
  • Installed  the latest windows updates
  • Updated my graphics card drivers
  • Configured windows to launch the game in low power mode
  • Tried launching the game in Windows XP compatibility mode - as administrator
  • Tried reinstalling the Microsoft redistributables from 2015 and newer.
  • Collected my DxDiag and Vulkan info logs

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

Hello, the only way is to install the Nvidia 572.83 driver, I hope they will fix the problem...

hello i just want to raise awareness that the latest nvidia graphics card driver currently 576.80 will cause the game to not start when you click play. I have the solution to fix this issue it only launches and works when you downgrade the nvidia graphics driver to version 572.83. with this driver the game will successfully launch without issue. this issue does need to fixed on EA,s end as this issue means alot of people cant launch the game on the latest driver and have to use this older one. hopefully you guys can work on a hotfix or something to correct this. the problem only affects people with 50 Series GPU,s and running the latest driver but version 572.83 works ive tested this on 2 machines both running 50 Series Cards and can confirm this driver version works with this game as before when i clicked play on steam it would load for a millisecond in the taskbar and then close instantly with no error message or logs.

    i have provided a vulkaninfo.txt below

    Best Regards Chris

Sims: The Legacy Collection wont launch on driver 576.88 which means theres a regression in the driver or a Vulkan Incompatibility in the newer drivers which causes the game to not launch whatsoever regardless or compatibility modes. the only version that works and can confirm it works is driver 572.83

Hopefully a hotfix can be made for this as it stops people being able to launch the game. This happens on both the EA and Steam Version of the game. But reverting to 572.83 allows the game to launch.

I'm having the exact same issue on a nearly identical system (7800X3D & RTX5080) and running the latest drivers 577.00, I have tried all the fixes listed above and nothing works.

It has been 3 months and still no solution provided, absolutely unacceptable.

  • Hey All, I just tested the latest NVIDIA driver 577.00 with the most recent game update (As of 24 July 2025) and I am able to launch again! Has anyone else had the same success?

Still no luck for me, doesn't run on the latest 577.00 drivers and no updates are available on Steam for TS1.

  • Good news with the latest version of the NVIDIA 580.88 driver it works again !

I've spent more than 3h trying to fix it. 580.88 didn't work. I've rollback my RTX 4060 drivers to 572.83 and then to 570.70 with no results. I've try several other solutions from the forums. I don't have cpu integrated graphics to switch to them.
