The Sims 1 still not working after 2/20 patch

I have downloaded patch after patch and still have not gotten anywhere with this game. It still crashes during the sims logo loading screen through the EA app. I have included my dxdiag twice and don't have vulkan on my pc, please help get this fixed or I want a refund as I have not played since I bought the legacy pack on release day and am beyond frustrated I can't play this game.

  • vloveeex3  When you plug your monitor into the motherboard, the integrated graphics chip runs the monitor, not your dedicated graphics card.  That will absolutely affect performance in any game you play that's even remotely demanding, but you might not notice if you don't know the capabilities of your GPU.

What may be the case here is that other games run fine on your iGPU, but Sims 1 either does not or is having trouble with your setup.  So please just try my suggestion and let me know whether it helps.  And try some of your other games too, to see whether you spot a performance improvement.

puzzlezaddicti shouldn’t have to change where my monitor is plugged in, that shouldn’t make a difference when all other sims games work except 1

Mine had a couple minor issues and my game never crashed until after the second update. I never had any issues with certain lots in my game but now all of a sudden, certain residential and public lots in Old Town wont work. I can't go into the houses to play with my Sims. I played it all night last night, turned my computer off and now today, it's not working! I'm so upset. The update hasn't done anything except cause issues.

  • MeggleMonster  Please try playing a new save, for comparison's sake.  Go here:

    C:\Users\your username\Saved Games\Electronic Arts

and rename the Sims 25 folder to something else, it doesn't matter what.  Doing so will prevent the game from reading your existing save and related data, but it will all still be intact.  Start a new save and see how it runs, including testing the same lots that currently cause problems.  If the new save is fine, the problem is something in the old save, and we can try to figure out what.

If the new save is affected too, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

You are absolutely right. You shouldn't have to do that. None of us should have to do all these things. They released a game that doesn't work. Just like every game they release. Always full of bugs. They should have re-mastered the game and tested it fully. It's obvious they didn't test anything properly. I don't care what anyone says. So many have wasted money on this. It isn't fair and I'd be pushing for a refund. EA can either release a remastered version for free or give everyone their money back. I'm over it.

Actually, in vloveeex3 case, they absolutely have to do that.
The CPU's onboard graphics is extremely less powerful than the dedicated GPU.

Plugging a tower PC monitor into the wrong GPU port is a straightforward user error that can reduce graphics performance by over 90% or even causes the game not to work.

Not saying that there is no problem with the game itself on some systems, but this particular case is different.

SAME. needs sorting ASAP. Sims 2 works fine but no matter what I try with Sims 1 I just keep getting the Vulkan error message!
