When Sims 1 Legacy Becomes Sims 1…Frustration?

Hey everyone,

So, I thought I’d treat myself to a blast from the past by diving into some Sims 1 Legacy goodness. Little did I know the download gods had other plans. After countless failed attempts and enough tears to fill a Sims pool I reluctantly sought help from EA’s support— I was a bit nervous on how the customer experience would be as I've seen MANY forum posts of customers receiving subpar assistance with no refund options.

The issue I've been dealing with is when I click the app to start the game, it launches but then the screen freezes to white and the app ends and is unable to be started. The EA representative had me try a few steps which I'd either done prior, or did during the chat, and none worked with the game to load. Finally, the EA rep threw in the towel and hit me with "its my devices issue (MSFT Surface Pro 11 with Windows 11), and then proceeded to say sorry for my issues with Sims 2. I clearly stated in the beginning of our chat and the subject matter was Sims 1. It was annoying to say the least they didn't even say the right product I was having an issue with! I pointed out the name error, hoping for a hint of empathy or, dare I say, a solution. The grand finale? They hung up on me (equivalent to ending the chat). Poof! My nostalgic dreams shattered quicker than you can say “plumbob.” My last glimpse of hope of the chat reopening was crushed quickly again as the notification was a request from the EA rep asking for a survey on service :/ 

So now, here I am, appealing to you, my fellow Simmers, for a dose of wisdom or at least some shared frustration. Have any of you managed to wrestle the Sims 1 Legacy download into submission? Any secret spells, dance rituals, or tech tips would be greatly appreciated.
