- I'm pretty sure you can both as a home business as long as you have all of the required items and employees.
- It will be great to see a few pictures of your business.
- EgonVMSeasoned AceYou can have a bar as a home business, but it is not so with restaurants. Restaurants require a host podium and a special restaurant stove, both of these aren't avalible for the residental lots.
- There is a work around if you really wanted to. It has to be done on a NEW lot though, one sims have never lived on. You start the unoccupied lot as residential, build the house and such, then you can enter a cheat changelotzoning community save and exit the lot to neighborhood. Then go back in and the lot will be considered a community lot. You will then be able to buy the stove, podium and anything else that is only for community lots. When done with that use cheat changelotzoning residential Save, and exit to neighborhood. The lot will now be a residential lot again and you can move in sims.
It is important to start as a residential lot so that your mailbox is intact.
If you don't want to go through all that you can run a fake restaurant. Place a ticket machine and charge to be on the lot, then just have one of your sims cook and serve food. People will pay to get in and then just sit down and eat what is served. - I'm going to say no it will not work for either one. I tried this years ago and the NL stove will not work as an object to hire employees if placed on a home lot. It will also mess up (or did at one time) the actual restaurants in the game. I can't exactly remember, but I would do as Jules suggested and put in a ticket machine and run a fake bakery (away from the house). Sims come in and eat the pie you serve, and watch a TV or whatever else you have there in an attached building etc. Same thing with a bar, you can hire a bartender but won't make any money, so add a ticket machine for time spent on the lot.
- AJC20178Rising NoviceMaybe with a ticket machine?

While you could do as Jules suggested... home businesses are a pain when you have to hire workers from outside.
Why is that, Scribal? I only have one business with employees (all my businesses are home businesses). It’s been great! I hired someone to tend the cash register. I use the phone to call her in when it’s time to open the business. She stands there doing her job and when I close the business, she rings everyone up before I send her home.
I guess I’m asking what problems I might come up against since you are incredibly experienced and have an insane wealth of knowledge!
