Cannot Play Sims 2 on windows 10?

@JULES1111, thanks! I checked my PC and I only have the Intel graphics and no other cards.

I ran the Securom removal tool but it didn't find anything. Trashreg didn't find anything either.

I forgot to say before (In case it helps), I have Sims 2, special DVD edition. It's on a CD, not Origin.

Ahh the disk. Securom is hard coded onto the disk. The best thing you could do is to contact EA and receive the UC in your account. You have a game code so it should not be hard to get a copy. You can find info for that here: first post

@JULES1111, that would be neat, thanks :) I've got to head offline for a but but I'll try that when I get back on.

I've set compatibility mode to Windows 8 and I'm using the lowest screen resolution in game. I managed to make one family and save them but it still crashes now and then in Create a Sim.

Is it possible it could be a core problem? My mate said some older games can only work one 1 core and I've got 3.

I have only got the base game loaded at the moment and no CC yet.

Cool let me know how it goes. Sometimes you have to try a couple times for a rep to cough it up. You will need the graphic rules again if you update to the UC. Also Securom is in UC, so you might have to go through that process as well after installing it.

I have 4 cores, mine works fine (I have UC on Windows 8.1) I know others not on 10 play the disk fine on newer computers, so I don't think that is a issue.

@Scribal_Goddess, no, none at all. I can play without a problem, it just crashes in CAS. I've managed to make 2 families without a crash but it seems to be random when it crashes. I am at my sister's place now but I'll download that camera mod when I get home. Thanks for linking me to it :)

@JULES1111, I'm a bit nervous to call EA, I have terrible social skills, lol. I'm glad to know it's not the cores that are a problem. I was reading about it online and some people said that forcing Sims 2 to operate on only 1 core could cause other problems.

It seems to be working better now but it still crashes now and then. It seems to crash more when I try to make a child Sim. Everything works fine until I press the tick and then sometimes it saves my Sim and sometimes it crashes.

@SoniaSimmer, thanks :) I just have one problem (lol, I'm awful, I know!). I can open the sgr file in Notepad to edit it but how do I save it as an sgr file again? It keeps trying to save it as a text document.

@SoniaSimmer, I tried that and it still wouldn't have it. It turns out it didn't want to save a file in Program Files, lol. I copied it into my documents, edited the file in notepad and clicked save, not save as. It saved the file as an sgr, no problem.

It's still crashing in CAS occasionally though xD I think I'm just going to let it go and play as my one family I did manage to create.

@SoniaSimmer, that could be it, I've got an integrated graphics card and it doesn't seem to be very strong. The other specs are fine (tri-core processor at 3.3Ghz and 6GB RAM).

Oddly enough, it runs Sims 3 quite happily xD

I've been playing with my Sims 2 family and I haven't had any crashes in game at all. Thanks again for helping me :)

I couldn't get the TS2 to play when I updated to Win10 some time ago but when Origin added the ultimate collection to the launcher, it now works. You may have to do the same thing like some have suggested, it's just easier. If you've been a registered user for some time now, they will typically just ask a couple of security questions then add it for you.
