Corrupted Files Error - Potential Solution

I was having the error with The Sims 2 Legacy not opening via the EA app and coming up with the error: "Some need files were corrupted during the installation. Please reinstall this application."

I did a live chat with someone at EA and they offered the below solution which has allowed me to open the game and so I thought I'd share for those also having the same issue!

The said to make sure you were on an administrator account and install the game on it.

They said:

"You need to right-click on the game shortcut, click on Properties, then go to the Shortcut tab. In the Target field, at the very end after the quotation mark, add a space, a dash, and "w". It should look like this:

"C:\ProgramFiles\EAGames\The Sims 2 Legacy\EP9\TSBin\Sims2EP9.exe" -w

and in the compatibility tab choose windows 7"

I did have to reinstall the game but I have been able to launch the game and have just loaded into a world!

Hopefully this helps!

  • Forgot to write that you need to right click and view properties through the desktop launcher not EA app :)

  • I have the same problem, and I tried your potential solution to see if it would fix the issue. Unfortunately, I still got the same error message when trying to start up the game.
