So the Legacy Edition contains bugfixes and modern systems compatibility, but the content is identical to the Ultimate Collection.
But why is the UC being ignored ? The new Sims 2 not a remake, not a remaster, just a re-released version and it should be logical for UC owners to get it without having to play 30 €/$

I agree with this. If there really is no difference between the two, the old one should be upgraded to the new rerelease. Lets hope it's planned for the future.
The Ultimate Collection actually contains more content than the new Legacy collection so changing it would not be an "upgrade" exactly.
The Ultimate Collection contains the IKEA stuff pack and some music/bands that EA no longer have licensing for when releasing The Legacy Collection. If EA had forced the The Ultimate Collection to change to the The Legacy Collection it would be a downgrade and a lot of players would be annoyed.
However an update to The Ultimate Collection (whether that's possible or not, I am not sure) to include any bug fixes that The Legacy Collection has that the former does not would be more appropriate.
True, The Ultimate Collection should receive a patch with improvements just like the Legacy Edition
Yeah I agree The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection should receive a update patch of the fixes & improvements included on The Sims 2 Legacy Collection. I had to use community mods such as Graphics Rule Maker and 4 GB patch to get The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection to run properly on my PC.
I downloaded Ultimate years ago and have never been able to play it. I don't understand how to use mods and shouldn't have to use them anyway.
There is a huge difference between the two.
The ultimate collection ACTUALL works. - crashes sometimes though.
AND the Legacy Edition is Completely Broken. - Riddle and infested with whatever Bugs crawled out of the sims 4
