Crash When Opening Beach Lot

I've been playing the re-release for about 16 hours, I decided to work on a beach lot with no family. But it loads halfway and crashes just saying the program will terminate (no error code). It's odd because I loaded a beach lot just fine on an empty new neighborhood, but on the pre-made neighborhoods it seems to crash. No idea what to do about this. The beach lot is community and empty. Using the neighborhood Belladonna Cove. Also it is winter and there is snow on the ground, not sure if beach lots are broken when there's snow? Also on my custom neighborhood when the beach lot loaded, the textures were reversed where there was sand and waves by the street and grass in the ocean. But I ignored it. Also in the custom neighborhood it was residential. I will do more testing to see if I can re-create it elsewhere.

  • Hi all,

This was resolved in today's patch:

    • The Sims 2 might crash if a custom beach lot is placed in Belladonna Cove

  • Update: I can only recreate it in the Belladonna Cove neighborhood. The custom neighborhood works fine with the same data.

I also have this problem when trying to load beach lots in Belladonna Cove. It's also winter in my game. It worked for a few minutes (there was no snow, but I never put it in live mode) and then it crashed and has crashed ever since. It crashes on other beach lots, too, but not on inland lots. It crashes regardless of if the lot is occupied or not. I tried a beach lot in a custom neighborhood, but it crashed there, too. It crashes regardless if the lot is residential or commercial. I repaired the install and it loaded a beach lot, but then crashed again. I also can't consistently make this work.

No, it still crashes in Belladonna Cove, but loads in Desiderata Valley. I haven't tried playing a family on a beach lot, however. I tried patching & reinstalling the game and deleting Belladonna Cove, but it still didn't work. Granted, when I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, my saves were still there, so maybe I need to try a firmer wipe. I don't have any custom content installed, so I'm not sure why it doesn't work consistently.

  • smm18kbq3kyq MagicalKD Beach lots are somewhat broken at the moment. Is the lot that does not crash flatter than the one that crashes? I have found that the steeper the lot is, the more likely it is to crash the game, since uneven terrain may not work well with beach lots.

I think it is! When it did load, there was something wrong with the terrain--it was oddly striped. I tried a few places in Belladonna Cove, but I think they were all steep. Brilliant deduction--thanks!
