Just got the sims 2 legacy collection last night and now this morning I can’t create a family because I keep getting “Direct3D returned an error: D3DERR_INVALIDCALL! The application will now terminate.” Attached a photo for reference. Please help! I bought a brand new laptop that meets all the compatibility for both the sims 2 legacy and the sims 1 legacy collections.

09131f128535435b Do you have the original Ultimate Collection? I'm asking because Ultimate Collection has the "bright CAS" issue like in your screenshot. Your config log also shows the name and version number of that game (The Sims 2 EP9, version 1.17), while Legacy Collection logs list The Sims 2 Legacy with version number 1.18. Can you confirm you are using the Legacy Collection?
Keep in mind that they show up as separate games in EA App, and Legacy Collection (The Sims 2 + The Sims 2 Packs) is a brand new installation completely separate from Ultimate Collection.
I took this screenshot on a Mac which is why they are greyed out, but the one on the right is the new version.
Oh my goodness, you're so right. I do have the ultimate collection and that's what I was trying to use... oops.
