Do genetics still get passed on from create a sim?

I understand how the genetics work in sims 2, which I personally think are the most realistic, but how do they work in create a sim. I have created a family with a child, her parents and grandparents, I have given them different colour hair and eyes so when the child grows up and has children of her own will they still inherit genes from their ancestor's?

I believe that recessive genes are passed on in CAS if you use the pacifier button... Although I'm not sure whether changing hair and eye colour changes these genes.

If you do the changes in CAS, all the genetics will be changed. If you do the changes after you've created your sims, no, it won't.
  • From my understanding, the only kinds of traits that will not be passed down generations are the odd ones like blue hair and skin, only natural colors are able to be passed down for some reason (there is a mod for this: simscommunity info/social/threads/unnatural-hair-colours-are-now-genetic-child-hairs-recoloured 260/). With facial features, they are passed down, but it is random from the two sims. So, if one of your sims has eyes that are close together there is a chance that the child will also have eyes that are close together.
