Have tried at various times to launch the game via the EA app over the past several days. Each time the launching box briefly appears then goes away. On a couple of occasions that departure even crashed the app. Tried tonight using the offline method and got an error message saying the license has expired. I found no place for TS2 at Answers HQ, only 4 and 3. Not looking good unless I can get an old Windows XP machine working again.
Any thoughts?

I've been playing Sims 2 for a couple months through the EA app without any problems. MySims on the other hand... I'm sorry it's not working for you. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling yet?
Thank you, everyone, for your posts. As of a few minutes ago, it still refuses to launch. EA help suggested clearing the EA app cache. The only improvement is that the launch bar goes through two or three cycles before quitting rather than not even trying. Have not thought of uninstall/reinstall, probably because my installation is from the EA side, having been able way back when to verify that I had the discs. I have serious reservations that the attempt is even possible now.
