I did, but it wasn't until it was too late that I realized I had purchased a PC that did not have a disk drive. And unfortunately, disk-driveless PCs are getting more and more common.
@cody6268 have you thought of an external drive? You can purchase an external CD DVD drive from Amazon for around $16.- I've never played it. I voted that I'm not interested mainly because I don't think I'll ever have a chance to try it. I'm also not sure if I would like it
- GrumpyGlowfishSeasoned NewcomerThe reason I switched to TS4 "early" (I was going to wait until that game had pets and seasons, but ended up switching in early 2017) is because TS2 was no longer working properly on my PC after upgrading to Windows 10. Sometimes the game would launch, sometimes it wouldn't, and sometimes it would, but I only got a black screen with sound, and I got tired of it.
Because of this, and because I've gotten used to TS4 by now, I eventually uninstalled TS2 and have no plans to play it again, just like I never played the first one again after switching to TS2. - ShopGirl98New SpectatorI have it and some packs on disc that I slowly collected a few years ago from second hand shops. I had it on GameCube when it first came out, but that's not quite the same.
- SimburianNew TravelerYes, I tried it yesterday via Origin but the screen is 800x600 and I get those black shadows again. I can't find a way now to change the resolution as it's all changed in the Origin files under C:\Program Files (x86). If someone knows how to change it I'd be grateful as the Sims are a bit squashed! It's always been more fun than Sims 3.
Sims Medieval at least allows me the resolution I want even though it doesn't recognize my video card but I find it difficult to read the messages now, too small. None of the old games really work properly with Windows 10 on the latest laptops with advanced resolutions. - SimburianNew Traveler

@Simburian Although some people have issues with it, IMO Graphics Rules Maker https://www.simsnetwork.com/tools/graphics-rules-maker is still the easiest and best way to add your graphics card to the database and allow you to use higher resolutions and advanced graphics. As for the black shadow squares, there is a mod on MTS to fix them.
I've checked that out and still cannot find that it applies to the new Origin update of Sims Ultimate. Did they mod it with that? - Sunflowergal227Retired HeroI use the discs and for some reason the sims 2 store edition is on my origin. maybe possibly could get UC because of that. But atlas, at least i use the discs and play from time to time.
- Yes and no but I'd like to. If I'm using my laptop I can play Sims 2. It's kind of ancient so I can use disks to play Sims 2 on it. I wish I could play it on PC though but cannot because when I try I have issues with Windows 10.

It works on the newer version of the UC where they moved everything about for me, and they've just released an update for it too. Try it and see. - Yes and both. I use the UC for the convenience as my discs are packed away. I do have the Sims as well but uninstalled and discs packed away as well. I'm not as young as I used to be. Keeping up with all 4 makes me tired just thinking about it. LOL
