My workaround was to turn off shadows under Graphics Options from CAS mode (the option is greyed out from the Neighbourhood screen but not CAS).
If you load up CAS, then click the 3 dots to bring up the options menu, then you should be able to bring up the Graphics options to turn off shadows. Apply the changes, then return to the Neighbourhood screen. I have then been able to load families as normal.
Unfortunately this workaround resets EVERY TIME they update the game, so I've had to "refix" my broken game each time they publish an update. I found it mentioned on another thread on here. But at least the game is playable!
I am having the same issue where the game crashes when trying to load a household, but unfortunately this fix did not work for me.
Has anyone found any other resolutions for the issue? Unfortunately EA has been no help whatsoever and directed me here.
