Can you also list all the changes you've made so far to troubleshoot this?
If you haven't already, please try generating a fresh save folder and see if the game still crashes; move The Sims 2 Legacy folder from Documents\EA Games to your desktop (or you can delete it if you don't have any Mods/CC or neighborhoods you wish to keep).
