Please look into this. This and the actual pink soup fix as discovered by Will Nixon seem like a quick win if you have access to the source code (which I'm pretty sure you do). Maybe you could involve Will and/or other modders? The breakthroughs they have been able to achieve without access to the source code are spectacular, so think how much they could improve the game if they were given the proper tools. TS2 already works pretty well on most modern devices, except for these few game breaking bugs, which we now know are possible to fix, so it'd be such a missed opportunity not to implement them.
