You enjoy those games, keep playing. TS2 can suck you in with it being harder; and there is that learning curve of how to fix all those old game problems. It's not like jumping into a new game, at all. :( - Go for it. Content-wise Sims 2 is probably the best Sims in my opinion (Can't say about the original Sims since I've only played it briefly) (:
Of course, the movements of the sims aren't as smooth as in the newer games and you can't choose things like voice etc. Also if you don't mind your neighbourhood's Sims never ageing then Sims 2 is a great game. - Definitely! :)
A cool thing to point out is if you buy the game and contact EA support, they will grant your Origin account the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection featuring ALL the expansions and stuff packs! This thread goes more in detail about it:
http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/814708/how-to-get-ts2-ultimate-collection-windows/p1 - Oh yes, I'd highly recommend it. I've played all games from 1-4, and when it comes down to it, 2 is my favorite.
- Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Also.. from what I understand this forum has some ridiculous limit that you need 50 points and 30 posts to make your own topic, and without having a pinned "questions megathread"...?
With that in mind, i would like to ask a question of my own:
Are there any disadvantages or side effects of playing on a lot with 1 family, then moving them out and moving in a 2nd family to the same lot?
For example, has time of year passed? Will Humble come back with a new gift?
Basically, I want to depreciate the value of the lot and also purposely break some furniture to make it seem like a run down lot for renovation, using a random sim to do all this and then move him out. - I'd say go for it. I started with TS3 and TS4 as well, and then moved to TS2 and it became my favorite game (and I don't even have all of the expansions, but I play with like 5000 mods&cc and counting). And when the fact that others don't age started driving me mad, I just used a cheat and that's it. :)

Ya the forum set limits because of spammers posting some...well interesting pictures. I will never look at Sonic the same way. :o
Answers for questions. If you move a family out of the lot, all furniture and items get sold. So when the new family moves in the house will be empty. There are ways around this, first before moving the family out, you could make another throw away sim to move into the household. (merge them) then move out your family, leaving the throw away sim there so nothing gets deleted. Move the throw away out when you move in a new family. Note that this will allow the new family to move in free, because you would just be combining households again. The name on the lot won't match either. It will still be the first family's name on the lot.
Second way more to what you are looking for is to use a mod. Stay things shrub http://www.simlogical.com/sl/Sims2Pages/Sims2_MiscHacks.htm you can set the shrub to keep all items on the lot when sims move out. So you can leave the house completely intact, and move in a new family that will pay for it, and their name will be on the household.
Whatever season you have set to be the first season while playing will be the season they are in. So if you move out in winter, but have the first season set to spring, the new family will move in, in the spring. If you wanted it to be the same season you can just change the seasons in neighborhood view, so whatever season you want to be in is put in first. Yes you will get a new computer from Humble.- @JULES1111 Thank you for the detailed reply, i never thought about that placeholder sim method before.
I've used the Stay Things Shrub before but i've also heard some concerning things.. Like, I read the other day in a post about preventing neighbourhood corruption something about how "sickness tiles" generated by sick sims could still be stuck on a lot, and I guess I was concerned about other things that might stay on the lot even after one family moves out. For now, I solved the depreciation issue by getting the Magic Wand mod, just a shame i can't break the shower and tv without moving a family in (i'm making a starter fixer-upper house in my neighbourhood).
Anyways, about the forum limits.. I don't know the history of spammers in this forum, but to me it seems like requiring users to make 30 posts spread out in other topics is a good way to get people to write useless comments just to get their post amount up. Tbh, that's the reason for my first post in this topic. All I said was how it's worth it to buy sims 2, which does not contribute at all to this topic because it's already been said by plenty of other people, which means you can consider my post spam as well. Your welcome. I haven't heard that about the sickness tiles, but I suppose that might happen. I don't use the shrub myself so I have no first hand experience with it. I always like to buy new stuff for sims, but your play idea, it makes sense that you would want those items to stay.
Well you not only need 30 posts, but also so many points (I don't remember how many) So really you need to post, and have people hit the magic buttons. :D So if you just write gibberish, or useless stuff it won't help. That is ok for your first comment. :) It was not spam. You answered the question the OP asked. If yours was spam then so isn't everyone elses. :D Just keep contributing to threads and you will get member status in no time. I hear off topic is a good place to post for that, or at least it was...
On topic... Yes OP I would grab a base and ask EA for the UC. Why buy all of them when you can get most for freeeee. :D
