Sims 2 Crashing

Hi! I was encouraged by a customer service member for EA to make a post about the issues I have been facing with the Sims 2 Legacy Edition. I originally had no problems with the re release and was able to play until i installed the update that was released February 4th. Since then my game has crashed every single time I have tried to load a household. It originally appeared as a d3derr_invalidcall!, however it has since changed to a simple "The application has crashed, it will now terminate". I have tried everything under the sun to try and keep my game from crashing and it has been wildly unsuccessful. If anyone knows how to fix this error please let me know! I was so excited for this re release and I've been very disheartened about how broken its been.
