Sims 2 Legacy - Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error

I have been playing the Sims 2 Legacy perfectly fine, but today when I went to start it, I got a runtime error message. The error message says "this application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way". My copy is through steam.

Some fixes that I have tried:

  • Repairing Visual C++ files.
  • Uninstalling and Reinstalling Visual C++ files.
  • Removing all mods and CC.
  • Uninstalling and Reinstalling the Sims 2.
  • Switching what drive I have my game installed to.

I will also attach the error message to this post. Please let me know how to fix this issue! Thank you!

  • I was able to fix the issue by completely deleting the Sims 2 Legacy folder in the Documents folder. I also added back my mods and previous save and I am able to play them.😃

    I am also having this error - will try the prescribed solution, but just wanted to confirm it as an issue.

    I found that deleting the caches in the Docs folder also solves this issue. Sure would like to know what is causing this issue though, as having to delete cache all the time is pretty annoying
