- Are you playing the Sims 2 Legacy Collection (released January 2025), the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection (through the EA App), or an all-disc install?
- Are you using mods or custom content, and does it help to remove this content?
- Is your Sims 2 user folder, the one that contains your saves and other user data, stored in OneDrive? Please check even if you think you know. Right-click the folder and select Properties > General, then look for the Location.
- Is Smart App Control enabled on your computer? It was causing problems with Sims 4 for a few days but may not be anymore.
Please also provide a dxdiag. Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop. From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
