charlyp92 Your new dxdiag doesn't contain any BlueScreens, which is of course a good thing. I do want to mention, in case it's not clear, that a crash to desktop is not the same as a BSOD, which by definition means your computer shut down. But if they're not happening now, it's fine.
I don't know what the shadow/black shape under your sims would be from; that's more than I know about Sims 2 in general. So other than playing with the graphics settings, I'm not sure what to suggest. If the game starts crashing again though, please let me know.
