Sims 2 Legacy Collection deleting sims

I've spent about 14 hours on the sims 2 now and I have had three sims deleted from my households. The first was a sim I created in a single person household, she visited downtown and when I tried to return home the game froze and I had to close it, expecting my previous save to be there when i relaunched. instead my sim was gone and her household no longer existed.

so whatever, i start a new game and sink about 3.5 hours into it. my new sim is now married and has a toddler. i sent her to the store to buy clothes for the toddler only to come back and find that the toddler is no longer a part of my household. so I reload the game and now my sim is gone too, only the husband is left!

i checked the forums and found that this is a somewhat common bug. i reached out to EA Help in hopes that they are planning to fix the issue or to make them aware and the support agent said he did not see any other reports of this glitch and only told me to reinstall or try to click Repair on the EA app to resolve the issue. i haven't tried these yet because sometimes the sims only get deleted after hours of gameplay and i'm not sure if i'm ready to waste so much time on sims that will vanish again...

he did say it will be fixed very soon but only after i told him i was considering refunding my purchase since before he had no knowledge of this problem or any patches coming to fix it. he also told me to post here so i am wondering if i am really the only one who has reported this problem??? or is this just EA being difficult
