Sims 2 Legacy Edition- Food Disappearing

My sim can’t eat most of the time, when she cooks and goes to take it off the stove it disappears. This happens with grabbing a serving too, it disappears(doesn’t go into inventory or floor or anywhere else). She snaps back to the same pose every time, facing straight forward almost like the action messes up and resets her. Also happens on community lots when trying to greet sims. Tried to greet a sim 5 times, they greeted then she snapped back to the same pose and he wasn’t added as an acquaintance. I verified game files, and even tried moving the stove/Sims I wanted to interact with. This is ridiculous for a game I paid $30 for, and honestly near game breaking given I can’t feed her. I have the Steam edition of the game and I know others have this issue too. It only appeared once I’d played 10 hours. Previously it ran great.
