Hello all, I've recently updated my computer to windows 10 and I get the following message whenever I try to play the sims 2 "This application has terminated". First I tried to remove all my mods, thinking that may be the problem. It wasn't. Then, I tried to repair my game through origin, and that didn't do anything either. I've done everything I can think of (Compatibility mode, windows mode, different screen resolution) and nothing at all works, and I'm really upset about it because it still is my favorite Sims game. Does anyone have any advice on what to do? Thank you!

@crinrict let me know if you find out if it has the old securom like disc. Maybe @blunote00 can ask around too about TS2 UC and which securom the are using. If they did not change it I will remove it off my computer. I haven't really played it much

Sadly, I have no advice for you. But the experience you describe has encouraged me to hold off upgrading to win10 the laptop I play TS2 on until after I update my win 8.1 desktop and try running TS2 there. It would mean downloading the series, CC, and the simenhancer program I use fairly often, more effort than I wanted, but it will give me a chance to test it out with the new operating system.Do you have access to geek-type technical support service via your internet security folks? They might be able to do whatever is required to re-establish compatibility between your TS2 and Win 10.

I haven't updated past Windows 7. It seems to be the latest that runs Sims 2 well. But, I have a Mac and play Sims 2 on a Windows partition, everything else is on my Mac proper. So I'm not depending on Windows for anything but Sims 2. I don't know what kind of issues you might be up against if you were solely dependent on Windows going back to Windows 7.

Have you tried deleting groups.cache if it is present in your Sims 2 folder in My Documents? That's a typical culprit for game crashes.

It's been the same thing for me. I have the sims 2 ultimate from origin online (the free giveaway package from EA games), and it keeps crashing on full screen - when i try to create a sim as well as when I try to go to an already existing house and family. I tried using it as the windowed version and it seems fine, I just don't like how you can't maneuver around with your mouse like you can in full screen, so I would much rather a fix for this instead of having to use it in windowed mode. Any suggestions?

If you hold the right button down, you can scroll the screen very easily. I actually prefer navigating this way. It saves me from moving my mouse to the edge of the screen.

Sims 2 UC may not also work if you are using the new Itel CPUs Skylake until you do a bios flash and it may not be just Win 10 itself the motherboard may need a bios upgrade.
