I don't use the Scriptorum- not because it's bad, it's great- it's that I don't use Custom Stairs and etc. I can also use custom windows and some doors. I just haven't found anything that I want that needs it.
I like the baby clothes mods, it's cute.
Mostly, for socializing, I have parties or Groups at my Sims house or a Community lot.
Poker parties, Pizza Parties, Pool Parties... at my Sims house. I guess I'm used to it. I didn't really like going to other Sim houses because then I had to update their house for parties or Group activities.
If you want to control Sims on your lot to make it more fun- there is the Visitor Controller from SimBology
