Sims 2-visiting community lot (incl. vac. worlds) = in infinite loading screens

Whenever one of my Sims try to visit a community lot (by foot, taxi or car) the loading screen starts, runs through, but then gets stuck there infinitely while the music still plays and the little hourglass keeps rotating.  When I forcibly end the game while stuck in the community lot loading loop and boot it back up again the Sim arrives back on the home lot as if he's been away.
So basically my Sims are stuck on their lot.

Hope someone can help and that EA fixes this ASAP (though I'm not holding my breath).

    Hey, not sure if you still need help with this or not but for you & anyone else who may need it - you should look up a "Sim Transporter" mod.  I use Sim Transporter 08712 (modthesims)

    It's not an optimal fix, but basically we're entering a residential lot owned by any Sim, placing the transporter object down and adding our desired Sim(s) to their family. This teleports them to the lot, and you can then have them choose the "Find my Own Place" option from the phone, newspaper or computer to return them from the family bin.

    This may change their displayed last name in some menus, you can fix with SimPE.

    Worth noting that this most often causes issues with owned businesses, mainly acts as if the business is sold. The lot and all its contents will remain, but it might need to be repurchased.
