Sims 2 Worlds Disappeared

I don't know exactly how to describe this issue. It starts up fine but when you click on which world you want to go to -- I attached photos. Please help. I've tried figuring out the files involved - uninstalled it as well. So it's not just the save files. Unless I need to manually delete the save files to reset the game - I can't remember if the files stay regardless of uninstalling.
