My game automatically updated once the patch came out. I hopped into Sims 2 thinking that I would be able to type again without having to copy paste everything into any text fields. And I still have the same issue. I cannot type only copy paste into the text fields. And I have also tried all the solutions that was passed around earlier for how to fix it and nothing works. Please EA/Maxis help me here
So I updated the game just now and the typing issue is fixed.
I envy you. No idea why it doesn't work for me

Have you tried a clean boot as well? Also, are you using a standard QWERTY keyboard layout or do you have any custom keyboard mapping you've set up?
I'm using a standard QWERTY keyboard layout and I just did a clean boot and followed the exact instruction in the link you provided but it made no difference. I still can't type anything, just copy and paste

Community ManagerMBaturina10 As a test, could you try unplugging your Strafe keyboard before launching The Sims 2, then seeing if this issue still occurs using the Windows On-Screen Keyboard?
Yes I unplugged my keyboard and then turned on windows on screen keyboard. I opened Sims 2 and I still couldn't type anything with the windows on screen keyboard

Apologies for the delay, can you try using the game launch modifier -IME:disabled and let me know if that helps?
Do you mean the launch options in steam? Because I tried putting -IME:disabled there and started the game and whenever I tried typing in any text field nothing happened.
